The festivities in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad are in full swing with the colours of Bonalu !!❤️

It truly is a festival that rivals the best of extravaganzas anywhere in the country.🎊✨✨

Behind this festivities is a tale of pain and death...😔

In the year 1813,there was a plague outbreak in the twin cities, and this took away the lives of thousands of people. At the same time there was a military battalion from Hyderabad deployed to Ujjain. When they got to know about the epidemic , they prayed to the Goddess in Mahankali Temple – Ujjain, MP. They promised to install her idol in Hyderabad. The plague was killed. It is believed that the mother destroyed it. True to their word they set up the famous Ujjaini Mahankali temple followed by offering her Bonam( =Bhojanam/meal in Telugu).Hence from then on the tradition is followed, considered as a thanksgiving to the goddess for fulfilling their vows...🙏🏻🙏🏻

Whatsoever be the truth behind the story..this is a token of gratitude shown by Hyderabadi's towards the Mother, whom they believe, saved the city..!!
